17th Annual Agricultural Seminar
The TFA staff has started planning our 17th Annual Agricultural Seminar and would like our members input regarding the date of the seminar and possible topics for this year.
The sooner we can get your input the sooner we can begin arranging venues and inviting guest speakers, therefore we are asking that you fill out the attached form and return it to the TFA office.
All input will be considered when deciding on the date of the seminar as well as topics included in the agenda. It would be appreciated if we could have all forms returned by August 23, 2007.
Thank you for your time and input

2007 Canadian Agri-Food Awards of Excellence
Canadian agriculture has earned an international reputation for providing safe, high-quality foods to Canadian and international consumers. In addition, Canadian innovation and research has led to new product and new uses for familiar commodities. The Canadian reputation for excellence is built on a tradition of achievement at all levels --from rural communities to city grocery stores, from farms to high-tech laboratories, from fields and waters to processors and exporters.
The Canadian Agri-Food Awards of Excellence recognize outstanding achievement in six areas that are key to the continued success of the sector: innovation in agriculture and agri-food, agri-food export, agricultural awareness and education, agricultural volunteerism and environmental stewardship. A new category has been added for youth leadership.
Agriculture and Agri-food Canada and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair sponsor the awards, and will notify winners in advance. Awards will be presented in November 2007 at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. You can celebrate the diversity of Canadian agriculture and its contributions to the Canadian economy by nominating someone who has made outstanding contributions in one of these areas.
Youth Leadership: To recognize a young individual or youth organization who has made an outstanding contribution through agricultural leadership. This success encompasses the spirit of leadership and also makes a valuable contribution to the agri-food industry and/or rural community.

Agri-food Export: To recognize excellence of achievement by small- and medium-sized enterprises, alliances and organizations in Canada in securing new export markets. This success makes a valuable contribution to the agri-food industry or the rural community, improving the quality of life for Canadians.
Agricultural Awareness and Education: To recognize an individual, group or organization that has made significant contributions in promoting public awareness and understanding of the agriculture and agri-food sector through outreach activities, events and/or projects.
Agricultural Voluntarism: To recognize excellence of achievement by an individual or organization that, through actions, commitment, dedication, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit, makes a valuable ongoing contribution to the agri-food industry and/or the rural community, improving the quality of life for rural Canadians.
Environmental Stewardship: To recognize an exemplary individual, group, organization or corporation that has demonstrated consistently responsible environmental practices and/or undertaken specific projects, research or activities that enhance or preserve the natural environment of rural Canada.
